‘Arizona Illustrated’ host Bill Buckmaster to appear in Green Valley
Forty-year veteran of television media to interview Green Valley News & Sun producers on the future of print and broadcast media.
TUCSON, Ariz. (February 11, 2009) – A longtime Arizona news favorite is scheduled to appear in Green Valley to talk about the future of news.
Bill Buckmaster, host of the KUAT-TV news magazine “Arizona Illustrated,” will appear March 5 in Green Valley to cover the topic, “What Does the Future Hold for Print Media and Public Broadcasting?” The event format includes informal interviews with two editors from the Green Valley News & Sun: Dan Shearer, managing editor, and Regina Ford, Lifestyle editor.
Award-winning journalist Bill Buckmaster has served as the anchor and managing editor for the locally-produced Arizona Illustrated public television program for the past 20 years, and has introduced viewers to some of Southern Arizona’s most influential and interesting people. He uses his wealth of experience in the business – this year is his 40th year in television – to provide in-depth perspective and analysis on the stories he covers. “We don’t just tell you what happened today,” Buckmaster says. “We provide perspective by giving you the whole history of the subject.”
Green Valley News & Sun Managing Editor Dan Shearer was a former senior editor at the Arizona Republic before working on the news in Green Valley. He’s a graduate of the University of Arizona and has worked at newspapers in Abilene, Texas; Palm Springs, Calif.; and at the Phoenix Gazette before its merger with the Republic. Regina Ford began as a news reporter before moving up to Lifestyle Editor.
