KUAZ-FM radio from Arizona Public Media announces new weekend show, new Saturday schedule
The NPR/jazz station for Southern Arizona remains one of the top news-talk stations among listeners age 35-64 in the Tucson area.
TUCSON, Ariz. (February 3, 2009) -- Southern Arizona’s NPR/jazz radio station KUAZ 89.1 FM and 1550 AM announces a new Saturday program schedule that includes an award-winning radio guide to pop culture and the arts.
Peabody Award-winning "Studio 360 from PRI and WNYC" is public radio's guide to what's happening in the arts and pop culture arenas. Each week, host Kurt Andersen introduces listeners to the people creating and shaping pop culture, including directors of must-see movies, authors of best-selling books and writers of songs that change lives.
Past guests on "Studio 360 from PRI and WNYC" include Yo-Yo Ma, Zadie Smith, Sean Lennon, Sean Penn, Walter Mosely, Dolly Parton, Ang Lee, Dave Eggers, Frank Gehry and Tori Amos. The show joins the KUAZ weekend lineup on Saturdays at 2 p.m. beginning Feb. 5, 2009, replacing “Weekend America,” which is no longer being produced. Recent data from the Fall 2008 Arbitron radio listener ratings for Tucson shows KUAZ as a top rated station among radio listening adults. KUAZ remains a top rated station in Tucson in the News/Talk format, according to the recent survey.
KUAZ and be heard on 89.1 FM and during daylight hours on 1150 AM.
