Arizona Public Media announces new Community Advisory Board members
Six new community members named to Southern Arizona PBS and NPR advisory board.
TUCSON, Ariz. (September 1, 2009) -- Arizona Public Media, the public broadcasting station for PBS television and NPR in Southern Arizona, announces six new appointees to its Community Advisory Board (CAB), with terms beginning September 1, 2009.
New CAB board members are John Geiger, retired educator from Green Valley; Edith Auslander, consultant to the University of Arizona Foundation; Kristin Almquist, former staffer to Governor Janet Napolitano; Adrian Shelton, research compliance consultant; Tom Hunt, vice president for Northern Trust Bank in Tucson, Ariz.; and Christopher Nagata, student board member and ASUA president. Arizona Public Media CAB board appointments are for three-year terms; student board member is a one-year term.
“The diverse backgrounds of these new members will contribute significantly to the strong community influence the board has on public television and radio in Southern Arizona,” said Jack Gibson, director and general manager of Arizona Public Media. “The Community Advisory Board is instrumental in improving connection with the communities Arizona Public Media serves, and we welcome their influence and appreciate their participation.”
The CAB board meets five times each year. Arizona Public Media employs an open meeting policy whereby interested members of the public are welcome to observe.
