Arizona Public Media Receives Seven Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

Category honors include Breaking News Coverage, Feature Reporting and Best News Series.

2018 Murrow Award hero Arizona Public Media has won seven Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA).

Arizona Public Media (AZPM) was honored today with seven Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA). The announcement was made on what would have been the 110th birthday of the storied broadcaster who inspired the award that bears his name.

“To be honored with multiple Regional Murrow Awards speaks volumes about the talent within our organization,” said Jack Gibson, AZPM Chief Executive Officer. “Each award is well deserved and is indicative of the quality reporting that our audiences trust and have come to expect from AZPM.”

Regional Murrow Awards are presented to small and large radio, television and digital outlets based on 14 geographic regions. AZPM received multiple awards in Region 3, which includes all TV and radio stations in Wyoming, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. Regional winners are automatically advanced for National Murrow Award consideration.

“I’m proud of our team’s work and what they create and share every day,” said Andrea Kelly, AZPM Assistant News Director. “These awards are just a small example of the major effort they make to bring the best to our audiences on air and online.”

The Edward R. Murrow Awards are presented to news organizations based on the specific body of work submitted. AZPM won a Regional Murrow Award in 2016 for the radio news documentary Divided by Law, which ultimately went on to win a National Murrow Award later that year.
