Arizona Public Media Announces New Staff Additions

Arizona Public Media (AZPM®) announces the addition of several new staff members.

Tucson, Arizona – November 4, 2013 – Arizona Public Media (AZPM®) announces the addition of several new staff members. Mark Channell joins the organization as Associate Director of Development. Channell will be assisting in major and estate gift development. AZPM also welcomes new additions Julie Ben-Yeoshua, program coordinator for Development and Underwriting, Weekend News Reporter Amanda Le Claire, and videographer Andrew Brown.

Much of Mark Channell’s professional career has been involved with working for non-for-profits, in both finance and fund raising. He comes to AZPM from the University of Arizona Foundation (UAF) where he worked as a Senior Accountant, and most recently, as a Gift Planning Officer. Channell’s development experience stems from working with donors to the UA, generating estate gifts benefiting all areas on campus. Prior to UAF, Channell worked as an accountant for both Carondelet Healthcare Network and University Physicians Healthcare. He is a graduate of UA’s Eller College of Management, and licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Arizona.

Julie Ben-Yeoshua’s career in the public sector includes experience with the UA College of Medicine, the City of Tucson, and educational institutions in Southern California. She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BSIS in Public Management.

Amanda Le Claire comes to AZPM after working in Detroit at WDET-FM and Team Detroit, a major global ad agency. She spent 6 years at WDET where she launched a daily talk show and worked as a producer, Morning Edition host, and reporter. During her time at Team Detroit, Le Claire produced a series of short documentaries that showcased the Motor City's vibrant cultural life. She has produced and art directed independent music videos featured by Vice and MTV, as well as worked as a contributor for the web series The Detroit Journal, and blogged for the Huffington Post.

Andrew Brown is a native Arizonan and has called this state home his entire life. Brown graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University in 2004 and has been working in the field since. He spent six years extensively covering Southern Arizona as a videographer at KOLD News 13 and understands the complexity of many issues facing this region. Brown has been nominated and won many awards for his work including two Edward R. Murrow Awards for videography. He is an active member and documentarian of the downtown Tucson arts and music scene, and his work can be seen throughout Southern Arizona.

Sandra Riggins, AZPM Underwriting Consultant, is an Arizona native and formerly an advertising manager with the Arizona Daily Star and Tucson Citizen newspapers for 17 years. Her extensive advertising sales and marketing experience also includes management positions with the Miami Herald, Sarasota Herald Tribune and the Marin Independent Journal. She is the recipient of the prestigious Charles Horne Lifetime Achievement Award for advertising, the Vic Mergard Lifetime Achievement Award with the Hearth Foundation for Homeless Women with Children and the Tucson Indian Center’s Service and Dedication Award.
