New Editions to Arizona Public Media

Arizona Public Media (AZPM®) announces the appointments of Vanessa Barchfield, AZPM News Reporter, and Rob Lantz as Morning News Anchor for NPR 89.1 and Classical 90.5.

About Vanessa Barchfield:

Tucson native Vanessa Barchfield graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University in 2004. The following year, she studied journalism at Sophia College in Mumbai, India, where she received training in journalistic ethics and inquiry, and solid practical experience reporting. Vanessa then moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil, to work as a reporter with Business News Americas, a Latin American newswire. Over the past six years, she lived in Vienna, Austria, where she worked as an editor with the Economist Group and the United Nations. Before joining Arizona Public Media, Vanessa spent several months learning radio production at the Transom Story Workshop in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

During the years she spent away from her hometown, Vanessa remained deeply connected to Tucson, following local politics and current affairs on a daily basis.

About Rob Lantz:

Rob Lantz, the new morning radio news anchor for Arizona Public Media, has been a Tucson resident since 1987 after moving here with his family from Morgantown, West Virginia.

His radio career began in 2002 at 1290AM-KCUB in Tucson, where he eventually worked as the Program Director. While there, he hosted a local sports talk show along with pre- and post-game shows for the University of Arizona football and basketball teams. He is a devoted fan of the Wildcats, Manchester United and USA Soccer.
