ARIZONA PUBLIC MEDIA invites you to a screening of RARE: Creatures of the Photo Ark at Reid Park Zoo's Lee H. Brown Family Conservation Learning Center or Arizona Sonora Desert Museum's Warden Oasis Theater.

The events will each feature a screening of selections from RARE: Creatures of the Photo Ark, selections from Arizona Illustrated's mini-documentaries, and a panel discussion with local wildlife experts.

Arizona Illustrated continues its legacy of engaging southern Arizona's viewers with thought-provoking, diverse stories that reflect our community. Through stunning photography and powerful storytelling, meet the people that make Arizona unique and vibrant.

RARE: Creatures of the Photo Ark follows renowned photographer and National Geographic fellow Joel Sartore whose "Photo Ark" project is the focus of this new, three-part PBS special which follows the photographer on his journey to nature preserves and zoos around the world. Combining stunning visuals with the expertise of renowned zoologists, Rare reveals why documenting and preserving animals matters to us all.


RARE: Creatures of the Photo Ark will air on PBS 6 on three consecutive Tuesday nights: July 18, July 25, and August 1, at 9pm. Be sure to also check out the local mini-documentaries on Arizona Illustrated before the premiere of RARE on Tuesday, July 18, 6:30pm.
