Twenty people from 10 countries stood in front of the picture window at Saguaro National Park, raised their right hands, and became United States citizens on Independence Day.
Around the room were smiles and tears on the faces of the news citizens and their families.
“It feels awesome, you know I am really honored to become a U.S. citizen on this day,” said Marysol Velderrain.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce MacDonald presided over the ceremony.
This is the seventh year Saguaro National Park has hosted a July 4th citizenship ceremony.
The National Park Service has pledged to hold 100 citizenship ceremonies this year to mark the Park Service’s centennial.
