Liz Scherffius is the Science Producer for Arizona Illustrated, covering the natural world, health, and scientific exploration in the region. She has written and produced documentary films, series, news, and content for National Geographic Wild, History Channel, Netflix, PBS American Experience, and the BBC, among other outlets. In these roles, she filmed with wildlife in remote corners of Alaska, gained exclusive access to official inquiries into unidentified aerial phenomena in South America, researched the addictive properties of opiates and other substances, and uncovered archives to bring renowned historical figures to life. She received her master's degree in documentary filmmaking from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where she also specialized in investigative data journalism.
