Arizona Public Media launches new radio frequency in northern Pima county

The new 104.5 FM will provide an enhanced signal to listeners in Saddlebrooke, Catalina, and parts of Oro Valley.

For several years, Arizona Public Media has been working to improve the NPR radio signal in northern Pima and southern Pinal counties. Last week AZPM received final authorization from the Federal Communications Commission to begin broadcast operations on 104.5 FM which will greatly enhance the signal quality for many area listeners.

The new radio service on 104.5 FM will join the growing family of NPR stations provided by Arizona Public Media which include 89.1 FM and 1550 AM in Tucson, 88.9 and 91.3 FM in Sierra Vista, and, soon, 91.1 FM in Nogales.

The new 104.5 FM broadcast frequency will provide listeners in Catalina, SaddleBrooke, and parts of Oro Valley to the north of the existing coverage area with improved reception for AZPM’s local and regional programming and national programming from NPR -- 24 hours a day.
