Tucson, Arizona - August 29, 2013 –
PBS NewsHour Weekend - Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 7 p.m. PBS 6 will broadcast the premiere of the PBS NewsHour Weekend, an extension of one of America’s most iconic news broadcasts. PBS NewsHour correspondent Hari Sreenivasan will anchor PBS NewsHour Weekend every Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. Each PBS NewsHour Weekend program will include a two-minute local news summary anchored by AZPM’s Christopher Conover.
Like the weekday edition of The PBS NewsHour, PBS NewsHour Weekend will feature a summary of the day’s national and international news, using renowned experts to offer analysis. Each weekend broadcast will contain original, in-depth field reporting on topics including education, healthcare, the economy, energy, science and technology, religion, finance, and the arts.
AZ Illustrated Metro and Nature Switch - AZ Illustrated Metro, with host Maria Parham, will move to its new night, Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., starting September 4, 2013. AZ Illustrated Nature, with host Georgia Davis, moves to Mondays starting September 9.
Nature features environmental news and issues unique to our desert landscape. Metro covers education, business, government and the polities that affect our community.
The rest of the AZ Illustrated line up, Science, Arts, and Politics, stay on their originally scheduled weekday at 6:30 p.m.:

NPR 89.1 Changes Saturday Programs:
_The Treatment with Elvis Mitchell - Starting Saturday, September 7 at 5:30, film critic and commentator, Elvis Mitchell comes to NPR 89.1, when _The Treatment with Elvis Mitchell joins the weekend line-up. On The Treatment, you hear conversations with innovators and influential in the worlds of film, pop art, and entertainment.
_Latino USA with host Maria Hinojosa – Also on September 7, NPR 89.1’s radio journal of Latino news and culture, _Latino USA, is expanding to one hour and moving to 6 p.m. Saturday evening. Latino USA is the longest running Latino-focused program on public radio, and is hosted by journalist and producer Maria Hinojosa.
