Tucson, Arizona – September 11, 2013 - Three years ago, PBS 6 launched the weekly, commercial-free, classic film series, Hollywood at Home on Saturdays in 2011. In celebration of its popularity, and the upcoming third season, Victoria Lucas, a Tucson based, independent producer and screenwriting consultant, will join the series as the host each Saturday at 9 p.m.
Lucas’ debut as host of Hollywood at Home starts this weekend with the presentation of “Get Shorty,” on Saturday, September 14. Ms. Lucas will provide historical context, behind-the-scenes information, and film trivia on each of the featured classic and contemporary films.
Lucas has almost 20 years of experience as a development and production executive at both major studios and independent film companies, beginning her career at Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment. Later, as Director of Development and Associate Producer at Signature Pictures and April Productions, Lucas helped develop scripts as diverse as the religious thriller “The Body,” starring Antonio Banderas, the horror film “Fear.com,” the action-adventure “Extreme Ops,” the mystery “The I Inside,” starring Ryan Philippe and Sarah Polley ,“The Black Dahlia,” based on the James Ellroy novel, directed by Brian de Palma and starring Scarlett Johansson and Hilary Swank and “The Contractor” for Sony Pictures, starring Wesley Snipes, Lena Headey and Charles Dance.
Lucas is the daughter of television writer-producer-director John Meredyth Lucas (whose credits include the original Star Trek series), and actress Joan Winfield. She is the granddaughter of Bess Meredyth and Michael Curtiz. Meredyth was one of the 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and a screenwriter whose credits include “The Mark of Zorro” and John Barrymore’s “Adventures of Don Juan.” Curtiz’s credits include directing “Casablanca”, “Mildred Pierce,” and many other classics.
