Tucson, Arizona - July 16, 2013 – Arizona Public Media (AZPM®) announces the addition of Alan Fischer as a host of AZ Illustrated Science, the weeknight news magazine which airs on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. on PBS 6. Fischer will share host responsibilities with Jane Poynter.
Alan Fischer is the public information officer at Tucson-based Planetary Science Institute (PSI.) He formerly worked as a reporter at the Tucson Citizen and Arizona Daily Star, and holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Arizona.
A Tucson resident much of his life, Fischer treasures the vast array of outdoor natural resources the area offers, particularly the Santa Catalina Mountains. A longtime bicycle racer, he finds the scenic and hilly Cactus Forest Loop ride at Saguaro National Park a favorite destination. Fisher also participates in education and public outreach efforts at PSI.
