Arizona Public Media (AZPM) and its staff have been nominated in two categories for the 2015 Lumies Arts & Business Awards. AZPM was nominated in the category of ‘Arts and Cultural Advocate,’ while Mark McLemore, host of AZPM’s weekly radio series Arizona Spotlight, was nominated for the David Hoyt Johnson Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts.
The Lumies are organized by the Tucson Pima Arts Council with the goal of spotlighting people and organizations that have had a profound impact on the lives and communities of Southern Arizonans.
“We are very honored by these nominations and proud of the work we do to connect people to the arts at both the local and national levels,” said Jack Gibson, AZPM’s general manager. “Programs like Live from Lincoln Center, Great Performances and American Masters, to locally produced programs like Arizona Spotlight on NPR 89.1, arts segments on Arizona Illustrated and Community Interactive: The Arts, which is scheduled for 2017, AZPM connects Southern Arizona to the art of storytelling, the art of creating, to the art of making art.”
The Lumies gala event takes place September 18 at the Tucson Museum of Art Plaza.
