On a warm Saturday in early August, a group of volunteers from Arizona Public Media spent the morning at the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona sorting and packing food for families in need.
The AZPM team loaded 34 pallets of non-perishable items. Each pallet contained 24 crates and each crate contained two bags of food. Their efforts filled 1,632 bags of food that will be disseminated to deserving families throughout Tucson.
In partnership with over 300 local agencies, the Community Food Bank distributes 65,000 meals daily and serves approximately 190,000 people every year.
Other recent AZPM staff volunteer efforts include building homes with Habitat for Humanity, cooking meals at Ronald McDonald House and painting Ben’s Bells. For more information about AZPM visit azpm.org.
