WONDERLAB: Learning about Life in the Sonoran Desert

AZPM and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum team up for a Virtual SciFest lesson

WONDERLAB. Children's Museum Tucson Virtual SciFest, Feb. 2021

In February 2021, amid the global COVID-19 Pandemic, Children's Museum Tucson celebrated the 10th Anniversary of SciFest. During the month-long celebration of science, participants shared activities, demonstrations, and experiments virtually.

Arizona Public Media teamed up with the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum to teach kids all about how plants and animals of the Sonoran Desert adapt to extreme weather conditions. Viewers were introduced to a Saguaro (hashan in Tohono O'odham), Western Screech Owls, and a Desert Tortoise and learned about how invasive buffelgrass is a threat to the delicate desert ecosystem.
