U.S. and the Holocaust Special Preview Screenings & Panel Discussions. September 6 & 7, 2022.

In early September, AZPM presented a special preview of The U.S. and the Holocaust, the newest documentary from filmmakers Ken Burns, Lynn Novick & Sarah Botstein. The three-part film examines the rise of Hitler and Nazism in Germany in the context of global antisemitism and racism, the eugenics movement in the United States, and race laws in the American South.

The film screenings took place on September 6 at the Tucson J and again on September 7 at the Green Valley Community Performance & Arts Center. The film premiered on September 18 on PBS 6. It is available to stream at community.azpm.org/holocaust.

The panel discussion on Tuesday, September 6 at the Tucson Jewish Community Center featured Andrew Schot, Holocaust Survivor; Lori Shepherd, Executive Director of the Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center; J. Edward Wright, Ph.D., Professor & Director, Arizona Center for Judaic Studies, University of Arizona. Moderated by Todd Rockoff, President & CEO, Tucson Jewish Community Center.
The panel from Wednesday, September 7 at the Green Valley Community Performance & Arts Center includes Wanda Wolosky, Holocaust Survivor; Deborah Kaye, Ph.D., Senior Lecturer, Arizona Center for Judaic Studies, University of Arizona; Lori Shepherd, Executive Director of the Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center. Moderated by Sharon Glassberg, MCC, LAC, Clinical Therapist/Wellness & Support Specialist at Jewish Family & Children's Service of Southern Arizona.
