Arizona's unemployment rate ticked up a tenth of a percentage point in December to 3.8%, according to the latest state report.
The rate continues to inch up after reaching an historic low in 2024. It remains below the national rate of 4.1%, and is three-tenths of a percentage point below where it was in December 2023.
The number of non-farm jobs in Arizona was up by 300 from the previous month. It's grown by nearly 56,900 in the past year.
The sectors that saw the most growth in 2024 were Health Care and Social Assistance (24,000 jobs), Government (10,400 jobs) and Trade, Transportation and Utilities (9,500 jobs).
Losses came in the Construction (-3,000 jobs), Manufacturing (-900 jobs) and Information (-900 jobs) sectors.
