Southern Arizona's 2nd Congressional District is still undergoing a ballot recount, but Republican Martha McSally has been appointed to the U.S. House Armed Service Committee.
McSally, who is a retired Air Force colonel, had a lead over Democratic incumbent Ron Barber of161 votes, which triggered a recount in Pima and Cochise counties per state law.
McSally said she's honored to be appointed to a House committee that has such a large impact on her district and country.
The district includes two military bases, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson and Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista.
Barber is currently a member of the Armed Services Committee.
The CD2 recount continues this week.
