Timna was born in Washington DC and has lived across the U.S. She moved to Tucson when she was 10 and eventually attended the University of Arizona, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She went on to earn a Master’s in Fine Arts from the University of South Carolina, which included a year working at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, DC. Before working at AZPM, Timna was the Director of Volunteer Engagement at Valley of the Sun United Way in Phoenix for ten years. In that role, she was responsible for hosting approximately 200-250 volunteer events with more than 5,000 volunteers each year.

Her son Ian is currently continuing the Wildcat legacy, having just started as a freshman this year.
